Oh no! You've caught me! I guess since nobody knows my origin story I should put it here...
That spiderweb was only the first in a long line of spiderweb related crimes. I just loved the feeling of destruction, of chaos. It was like an addiction. It was like an addiction, and I was but a child; who was I to stop it? The rush of endorphins was too much to fight. So I succumbed, and I began to do more and more morally questionable actions. Eventually, I moved from "questionable" to "reprehensible". I became a villain.
And being a villain was brilliant. I loved every moment of it. But it wasn't enough, and I had to have more. I became a supervillain. Finally, I had found my true calling. Finally, I was at peace with my position in life. But you can't always pull off the heist. I had to pull back, to focus on being a high school student so I could get a job, and more importantly, money.
And that is why I am only a Part Time Supervillain.

Obviously a knife wielding insect got caught in the web. The spider prepared to eat this delicious delicious insect when the insect pulled the knife on him! It was a ruse, you see, and it had been the insect's plan all along to get caught. The spider scrambled away, desperately trying to avoid this maniac, but he couldn't scramble fast enough. The insect got to him, and laughing, he said "This is what you get for eating my Step Great Aunt Ruthie Mays!" The spider pleaded that it wasn't his fault that he ate her (spiders need to eat too, after all) but the insect ignored him and cut two of his legs off. "Now you will be maimed! May you suffer for the rest of your life!"
But little did the fly know that the spider would be able to regrow his legs later! "I won't be maimed for life, you idiot! I'll regrow my legs later!" The spider took advantage of the fly's momentary lapse of concentration, leaped, and wrapped him up in a bundle of his silk. He could still hear the fly's muffled cries as he put the silken bundle away with his other snacks. He would eat the fly after it was dead.
And so the spider lived, happily ever after, until a human child ruined his web with a stick.

As many has asked - I'll replay here:
Why 6 legs?
8 legs felt aesthetically too cramped, so I checked:
Some spiders can lose their leggs, and they grow back!
Hence there's many 6 legged spiders!
