Primary PTB
- often seen in children
- initial infection with tubercle bacilli "Ghon focus"
- middle and lower lung zones are commonly involved
Post- Primary PTB
- adult type
- reactivation or secondary PTB
- localized to the apical and posterior segments of upper lobes; superior segments of lower lobes
Bacteriologic confirmation of tuberculosis
- 1 sputum AFB positive
- Positive sputum culture
- Positive Xpert MTB/Rif
