Hi there, sqsiddiqui!
To paste the badge of a pattern, template, or palette, look at the right column on that page. For instance, on this page,
http://www.colourlovers.com/pattern/3082499/EximiousSnuff_Garden
look at the right column, and you will see a box that says Share this pattern, with a lot of buttons and doohickeys. There's a changeable box that says grab this badge code, and you select the text inside and copy it to paste in a reply, and
you will get the badge.

To get a square box with the pattern repeat in it is a little more tricky. From that same box in the right column, choose Preview from the Get This Pattern Image menu. A new tab will pop up that just has the repeat square in it. On that page, copy the address from the browser bar.
In this case, that would be
http://colourlovers.com.s3.amazonaws.com/images/patterns/3082/3082499.png
In the reply box where you want to post the picture, choose the little green box from the icon menu right under Post a Comment It's the fourth option from the left, by your icon picture. Click on the green button and a little field will pop up that asks for the link where the image is hosted. Paste that web address from the last step in there. That will finish the code needed to put the picture in your reply box.
To put the two together, paste the badge code and the badge picture code, with img src= picture address, right next to each other. Some people put the picture first. There's no one way to do it.

Once I have the code for the badge and repeat square picture together, I store it on the pattern or palette page. To retrieve it again, just choose the Edit option under the comment you stored it in, then copy and paste the code where you would like to, like a thank you note.
