You can use an alternate route then. Save the preview of the background you want to use to your computer and then choose the background directly on the twitter going to settings -> design -> change background -> choose existing image.

On the top of this page in the Tools find Themeleon. It will ask you to login to twitter and then you can choose any background you want.
