The Etesian Winds are annually recurring summer winds, blowing over large parts of Greece, the Aegean Sea and eastern Mediterranean. The name derives from the Greek 'etesios' which means 'annual'.
The Levant is an easterly wind that blows in the western Mediterranean Sea and southern France. It can cause heavy swells on the Mediterannean, but it's usually gentle and damp.
When it brings good weather, it is known as the "Levant Blanc".
