I use to love to teach about color and color theory. A book by Itten was my bible of sorts and I referred to it often because of the well done color plates the book was illustrated with.
When I retired from teaching, I created a series of paintings based on what I taught about color. They were mostly non-objective although I could sense certain themes related to nature that seemed to come to mind when I was working on them.
I have to have color in my life. I am always aware of certain color relationships that I see as I move about daily whether it is in what someone wears or some decoration that I see where ever I see it.
I garden during the summer and some of the colors found in nature are the most intense you can find. I find it interesting how others see or talk about colors especially when someone overreacts to some color combination.
A favorite place of mine to visit is an old warehouse in Chicago which sells fabrics of every conceivable type and design It is like going to a fabric museum. They easily have ten thousand yards of fabrics I often go there and just look at what they have that is new. They have a large selection of unusual fabrics that you will not see in the average fabric store.
