We never traveled the world... We never went and saw the ice caves, and we never went hiking in Finland... I never introduced you to the rest of my friends who mercilessly teased me about catching you, and all of the things that came after........

I never sat with you outside of the Sydney Opera House, where we’d given away our tickets to a young couple at the door, and sat on the waterfront, listening to the sounds pouring out into a massively starry sky, where you proposed.......

That is to say, you never came over to my house when it was pouring rain, soaked through to your socks. Never freaked out that I almost walked in on you changing into the clothes my brother left when he went off to college...

We didn’t curl up on the couch and watch an Elementary marathon, making our predictions and laughing, joking at little innuendos or jokes we thought were clever... And I never got up the nerve to say your name, then as soon as you turned to look at me, lean forward with all the strength I could muster and just plant one on you. No intimate, beautiful little lead up. Just turning and kissing you, with you sitting there in loose jeans and an old white tshirt that wasn’t quite your size, watching tv with me on a rainy day............ I could spend all night telling you what we did together, but we didn’t do it.... It was all just a dream.
