OK...here goes.

Have you ever watched The Weather Channel? They allot either 1 minute, 90 seconds, or 2 minutes to a Local Forecast segment. At the cable headend (which sends out the channels, etc.), there's a machine called a Weather Star. The oldest STARs still operating were introduced in 1990 and are called the Weather Star 4000.

Some of these 4000s have taken on a lot of wear and tear, leading to graphical and technical glitches which are collectively referred to as "degradation". The 4000 that displayed the video that I took a screen capture of was SEVERELY degraded. (It's probably not in service anymore...the video is from August 2005.) The graphics were last updated in 1990 and use a pretty simple gradient.

There's a lot of other stuff related to The Weather Channel in my palette portfolio.

Note the color names:

-Weather Star (the name of the machine series)
-Failing Graphics (what was happening to the STAR)
-Moribund 4000 (moribund = about to die)
Thank you for all of the love.

If you want to know where that palette came from, just ask me. (It might not make sense unless you live in the United States.)
