APC Artists Index A-Z
This is the first time that Marc Chagall has been part of the APC challenge but there was an earlier thread listed for this artist which was started by chiron8 back in January 2011 ~ I have re-posted the earlier submissions here so that they all show in one place.
An artist will be named for the current challenge. For example, William Merritt Chase is the artist for Challenge #1. Hopefully links to works of art by that artist. will be listed Choose any work by the named artist and create a palette based around that work. Please tag your palette with "APC", include a link to an image of the work in the palette description, and post your palette in the group forum.
OR, if you have a favorite artist or work, start a new thread with the work and your palette
LINKS TO GENERIC COPY & PASTE INSERT IMAGE CODES
> INSERT IMAGE CODE (without border)*
> INSERT IMAGE CODE (with border)*
> INSERT IMAGE CODE (box shadow)*
*Just copy and paste the code replacing XXXXXX with your image URL - adjust percentage figure to resize
You can obtain an image URL by right clicking on the required image and either selecting 'properties' to view URL or selecting 'copy image URL' (depending on your browser)Hi
I have been prepping all the outstanding suggestions on the list for APC challenges and was just wondering if you would like to pick one of the challenges for next week.....
You can take a look to see which ones are ready to go (plus a few I'm still working on) by clicking on the little mouse below.
There a few odds and ends at the start of the thread but from page two onwards its all APC challenge suggestions.
There are no challenge numbers or links to badges yet as the challenge threads are still to be created but the search links should work.
You are welcome to pick one of your own suggestions if you have any in there ...
Just let me know, but don't worry if you don't want to... there is no rush on a reply as I can just slot your choice into one of the next two challenges to be posted (I'm hoping to post a new challenge every three days or so)... if you do choose one and it's very similar in style or subject to the challenge just posted (or that choice is also one of your suggestions) I may post something different in between just to beak up the styles and so two choices in a row aren't by the same person.

I will be posting a new APC challenge tomorrow but since we have quite a few newer group members posting to the group I thought I would take the opportunnity to revisit the issure of HOTLINKING, what it is, how to avoid it and why it is your asked NOT TO HOTLINK in the group or elsewhere on site.
Where I see hotlinks I may delete the entry and repost the whole comment on youir behalf, I don't check everything all of the time
but I do spot checks, particularly where people are nrecent joiners
I have tried to simplify the information but I am not a great teacher so do please message me if you have a query.
And just a quick point, nearly everyone has hotlinked at some time until they have learnt the hard way or someone has taken the time to clue them in, so please don't take any offense if you find something of yours has been reposted. I did it before I knew better as have many other long time group members...so it's really just a case of 'you live and learn'
So, included above is a link to internet advice page explaining the issue and a recap in brief below with information on how to avoid doing it...
What is Hotlinking?
• IT MAKES A MESS IF YOUR IMAGE IS LATER REMOVED
• YOUR IMAGE MAY BE REPLACED BY SOMETHING RUDE
• MALWARE THREATS FROM THE SITE YOU LINKED TO MAY BLOCK ACCESS TO ANY PAGE WHERE YOUR HOTLINKED IMAGE APPEARS
How to Avoid Hotlinking!
1. USE A SHARE CODE
If an image has an embed code providied it means you are allowed to link to it, if not...2. LOAD THE IMAGE TO A HOSTING SITE
Find a stock photo, public domain or Creative Commons image or graphicand upload it to an image hosting site that provides embed links for sharing on other sites, you can often do this directly from other sites if not download the image to your computer before uploading it. One good exmplle of such a site is imgur.com
3. LOAD THE IMAGE TO COLOURLOVERS
OR even better upload the image to ColourLovers via Photocopa (just select CREATE A PALETTE and choose FROM A PHOTO) so that the image is hosted here on site and then link to that. This image will also then be available in the Photocopa gallery for anyone here to use and you can use the IRL from the image for posting with your palette.
4. USING AN IMAGE ON COLOURLOVERS
To grab the image URL for an image hosted on ColourLovers click through from the thumbnail shown on the palette page to acess the larger version on the image page.5. FINDING AN IMAGE PAGE COLOURLOVERS
If you are not using Photocopa to make your palette you can still load it to ColourLovers and grab the URL for posting - just find the image you have uploaded in the gallery and load it to Photocopa to grab the image ID code shown in the URL, you can then go into any image page and type over the image ID in the URL to go straight to the image you want.A Photocopa image URL will look like the example shown below, the image ID for this example is 451040

and don't forget

Hey there friendly friends! I’ve been feeling a little slacking in the fine art department here on the blog so today’s post is all about that. I was recently introduced to the work of Jeremy Mason (Financial Planner by day, artist by night) and was instantly intrigued. The pieces are abstract (which I love) and are constructed with some unique materials; oil, wax, & wood. Did I mention the awesome use of color? After talking a little with Jeremy through email, this is what he had to say about his work.
“I love modern art with an antique sensibility. I am inspired by art and design that is as comfortable as it is challenging. As such, I attempt to use the most traditional materials I can in my work.
My latest series was made using encaustic wax, a medium that dates back to the Egyptian times and was revived by modern artist Jasper Johns. For the base of each painting I brushed wood panels with a rust mixture historically used for staining gun stocks. The wax is used to seal the wood grain and can be clear for building layers or pigmented to add color. ” –Jeremy
Take a look at some more of his work here!

To stop receiving it - Go to the 'Artist Palette Challenge' group page
Click on 'Change my Settings' - Select 'Leave this Group'...
1) The challenge is to create a palette (more than one if you like) based on any painting by the chosen artist.
2) If you can, add the tags 'APC' and in this case 'APC479' (the number of the current challenge)
3) If you can, copy and paste the badge code into the description box (there is a link to the code provided, just click where it says 'COPY PASTE BADGE CODE'
4) When you are ready post your palette and image to the relevant Artist conversation, there is a link at the bottom of the challenge badge.
Don't worry if you miss out steps 2 & 3 - Send me a note if you have a problem ♥
