RC challenge 2011
SUBMITTING A NEW IFRC COLOR
Any member can submit a new color every 24h CTS - starting from 00:01 CTS
Time is calculated according to CST time, this clock:
What Time is CTS for me?
Here's a world map with time zones: TimeTicker - in the bottom right menu select U.S.A./Central U.S.A.
1) First check to see if someone has all ready grabbed a daily color - day starts at 00:00 to 23:59
2A) If there's a color - too late! Try again tomorrow!
2B ) If there's no colour, go grab a random color... or a colour with a cool name
If the random colour does not exist, create it and try to give it an inspiring name (see about colour names below)
and tag it IFRC
PS: You may want to check out the previous day's colours
3) Get the colour's badge (see how to get the badge below)
4) Post the colour to the RC challenge group thread, here. - straight away before you create your palette or else others may submit an other one.
More IFs...
- If the colour is yours, please tag it IFRC. This so they show up in search results.
- If 2 colours are submitted at the same time, like it happened here, it's the first posted comment that counts.
- If a colour is posted too early, it's considered non valid
ABOUT COLORS NAMES
Very quickly it turns out that colour names are important - If the name isn't inspiring, there won't be many submissions.
Try to name the colour with something inspiring - See past RC colour names
Optionally IFRC and IF-words can be combined by choosing a name related to the actual IF-word
I think names that can be used for story palettes can be specially fun - like the colour "Sing Me praises" inspired many palettes & story palettes
If the random colour you fell on already exists but does not have an interesting, inspiring name, try getting a free colour by changing the last letter of the hex code.
Also please avoid controversial names & delicate subjects such as politics and religion.
MAKING THE IFRC BADGE
Making the badge and suggesting an image are optional.
But you are welcome to do it!
See how to update the IFRC badge code
ABOUT THE IMAGE ON THE IFRC BADGE
It's is advised to upload a copy of the image here at CL, the colour pages enable to do this.
See how to download an image and upload it here at CL
How to get the colour badge:
To get the color badge just type this url followed by the Hex code
www.colourlovers.com/color/hexcode
Example for #820F00
Go to : http://www.colourlovers.com/color/820F00
If the colour doesn't exist, you'll see an "ADD THIS COLOR" button, create your colour and:
- Give it an inspiring name (see about colour names above)

RC159
This is part of the Daily Random Colour Challenge.
Sunday 2nd of January 2011, the colour is :
Don't Touch HEX: #0CC19A
EDIT:
R = Reserved, like in restaurants! =P
RC160
This is part of the Daily Random Colour Challenge.
Monday 3rd of January 2011, the colour is :
Pink Cloud- RC160 HEX: #E91C82 RGB: 233/28/130
What does R mean? Hey, how do you post two palettes side by side each other here?
GOOD QUESTION! =D
In the badge code you can see
style="width: 240px; height: 120px; border: 0 none;"
That's the size, this comment block is 2px too narrow for 2 badges!!
(important: with no space between them)
So you can change it to
style="width: 239px; height: 120px; border: 0 none;"
or even
style="width: 50%;" <- 50% of the width of it's container.
If you remove the height, the browser will automatically calculate it's proportion.
...and at CL images have no border by default - that part is for incase you post outside CL, so you don't need it here (Good to know because comments here have a max character limit)
PS: wrote a 'How to embed & resize images" for CL - Tried to make it the simplest as possible
The Daily challenge uses CST time
HOW TO PLAY IFRC
1) Use the random color
The latest random color is the last submitted color to this group thread:
Scroll down and click the latest page. The latest color submission should be visible there or on the previous page.
Optional but advised, you can also
> Add the IFRC tag - so this may show up in the group highlights and on my page - to all palettes and patterns using the RC color( because tags enable to search & sort RC palettes)
This even if you create a pattern using someone else's RC palette.
> Add the IFRC badge, you can find the badge code on the color page of the day - This badge contains all the important links you may need - eg: Clicking on date leads to the RC of this group thread
> Post the palette badge to the group page (screenshot of where to get the palette badge Video: How to post badge and embed images)
ANYRC
Late submissions: Once a new colour is submitted, items created using the previous day's colour can no longer be submitted to the group page.
Late submissions and any items created using passed RC colours can be submitted here and tagged ANYRC + the other tags (tags are comma separated)
PRIZES
There are no winners of course but palettes, patterns and colours with the highest score may sometimes receive a virtual badge like this
Most loved RC palette!
NB: This is only possible if palettes, patterns and colors are tagged IFRC!!
-Voilà! That's it! Thank you!
