I was using Seamless Lite to make a pattern and created the x. There is a little icon at the top of the layers box (top right button) that looks like a pentagon with a little plus sign inside a circle. When you hover it says "save as shape." I selected the layers for the shape and clicked that. It's the first time I've used it, so I can't help you trouble shoot if that doesn't work.
