That one took me a bit too. . . within the pattern creator, once you have created your shape, highlight it all and click the last button in the Layers bar. It looks like a pentagon with a plus sign on it. Then a pop up will appear for you to enter the information for your shape. Once your shape is saved, you will be returned to the pattern creator

Hope this helps. If you are still confused, let me know and I'll screen shot the process for you. . .

How do you make a shape? I have clicked create a shape tons of times and it always leads me to create a pattern
