There are two versions:

I : The 45° diamonds are brighter and closer to the foreground
II : The 45° diamonds are fainter and closer to the background

They will each look better with different palettes; please feel free to experiment with both. :)

(Title is a nod to one of my favourite novels by Neal Stephenson.)
