Description

Feijoa Sellowiana or Pineapple Guava.
Evergreen tree-like shrub with silver green leaves and pink/red fluffy flowers in Summer. Drought tolerant once established, but lack of water will cause fruit to drop, does not like to be kept too wet. Flowers come in early summer and have fleshy petals.
May not produce fruit if subject to frosts.
Prefers sheltered partially shady areas.

Meow, Lucy!

There are many plants poisonous to KaTs, as you have seen. Sigh.... I try to limit my eating binges in the garden to the veggies and to the KaTnip and KaTmint. Although chives are fun to nibble, Glenna claims that they give me very bad breath. My KaTbabe friends don't seem to mind, however. :))

Given that you have a rainy and cold climate like we do in Canada, I am not sure how well a magnolia tree will do for you. A friend of mine has planted three magnolia trees on three different parts of her property and has had no luck with them. She is an accomplished gardener, too. I would recommend that you plant the tree in a more sheltered area of your garden, and in fall until spring, cover it, when it is small, with burlap or floating crop row cover. Crop row cover looks like white non-woven interfacing, if you haven't seen it.

Lilac is lovely and should do very well for you. Have a look at Wisteria, too. It climbs so beautifully on houses or trellises, and blooms profusely.

We have not yet started on the pond, because Glenna's husband wants to have the courtyard side of the house painted and a couple of windows replaced first. :(

Hugs...

Thank you dearest Worfie and Glenna! It has such beautiful flowers! I think i would like to grow it but need to check if it would be possible here also if it is safe for cats! I was looking to plant a wisteria but then found out it's poisoneous to cats! Are you always trying to eat the garden Worfie? As my cats do! Now i have found lilac is safe and magnolia is safe too i will go with a small magnolia tree i think, they are so beautiful!
How is your pond coming along dear Glenna? Warm warm hugs to you both! ❤❤❤❤❤
