Embroidery is when you decorate fabric with yarn or thread, stitching patterns into it with a needle. There's many many different types of stitches and techinques, and complexity goes from a row of stitches in one color, to very elaborate decorations in various hues and patterns.

But I know what you mean, one of my favourite palettes ever was made by me randomly slapping colors together!
