You're right. There are so many well crafted patterns out there which look great and are coloured beautifully by others, but are totally reluctant to what I wanna do to them.
I'd take eighteyed's Zagreb from above for that rock n'roll pattern. She'd just have to get rid of those butterflies ... and do something to that flare in the center of the speakers.
But I really dig those tiger stripes.

Hey! Maybe flowers and butterflies are the ultimate "tough guy" symbols in this culture! I can just see them getting flowers and butterflies tattooed on their skinny green arms, with lots of extra curls and delicate swirls - just to warn the other aliens to stay out of their way!

The tiger stripes ROCK, if you'll pardon the term! And who knows - maybe she'll tweak the template for you if you send her a message. I'm sure you're not the only one who wants to lose the flowers and butterflies and totally rock out this pattern!

And you're right - some templates that I really fight with are easy for other artists. I'll go and look up the "similar patterns" tab, and there will invariably be several stunning patterns. If I'm struggling with a template, it's usually because I need to alter my color perspective. If I can do that, I have a 50/50 chance at success in producing something memorable. There are templates out there that are only made for pastels! :D

Hahaha! Well, you just never know. Maybe aliens like butterflies and flowers all over their boombox speakers. :D

We really need an alien rock n' roll pattern to go with this.

Some templates are horribly tricky. We're spoiled with the effortless templates - no question about that! There are templates that just refuse to behave, and I fight with the colors for the longest time before I get them halfway decent. Sometimes I'm still never happy with the results.

This one took me forever. Eigheyed's template is great, but it is intended for different use. It was very hard to come by the restrictions and features of the template. Also colour-balancing on the speaker was very tricky
