Get Well Soon!

I rarely get sick. I’ve had physical problems—including torn ligaments, shingles, cancer, and a rare thing called polymyalgia rheumatica—but none of those made me ill. Indeed, my last bout with a bug was a 24-hour stomach flu two years ago. Absolutely nothing helped that feel better. ☺

When I do get a cold, however, one of the main things that happens is a craving for high-carb, salty comfort food. In particular, I want instant mashed potatoes and matzo ball soup.

Like the rest of you, I go into sleep mode. Actually, it’s more like “don’t ask me to move” mode. My preferred resting place is the bed, surrounded by cushy, cozy down and extra-soft bed sheets. There, I slip in and out of sleep while watching TV.

Finally, what I most want when I’m sick is some tender loving care (TLC). I want to be doted on the way my mom used to do when I was a child. My husband isn’t too good at compassion or sympathy, but he will take care of things, including cooking and bringing meals to me in bed. He’s such a sweetie.
