Hi Joe! Thanks so much for the compliment. This pattern could have been sad; no question about that! And like a lot of abstract poetry, perhaps it means different things to different people - based on their personal life's experiences. Some stories, especially the short ones (like titles from patterns, palettes, and/or colors here), have no real form and simply hint at something greater. For me, I never thought of it as sad on a personal level, because it was a line from a Toto song:
