there's also that awful dated seafoam or whatever coloured carpet in the hallway... the carpet is in good shape, just butt ugly in colour, lol... I'm not sure if there'll be room in the budget to replace that carpet as we have to replace all the flooring in livingroom, kitchen, dining room, entry, back entry, and stairs... plus all the base board trim throughout the entire house... plus all the light fixtures in the house... and we have to gut one of the bathrooms... definitely a fixer-upper house... so, in that case, I'll have to take that icky sea foam green into account with the kitchen decor, too... hence this simple monotone type colour scheme... I'm a warm browns, oranges, reds, and yellows kind of person, though. If you click on the "Ugly Kitchen Counter" colour, you can see all the palettes I made with that colour.

Yes, they are hard wood. We're just going to sand and repaint them. I've already picked out the new hardware for the handles and hinges and whatnot.

Go for butcher block (cheap from Ikea) and new hardware ... are the cupboards wood?
