Description
Another name for this bad practice is tone policing, it is when an aggrieved party (usually of minority status) is upset about current or historical injustice, but rather than acknowledging that they have a good point, you derail the discussion by making their anger the issue. It's the argument version of bait and switch, so good points never get a proper hearing.
