Ironically, I just saw an episode of The Simpsons a few days where Bart and Lisa were trying to get out of church-shoe-shopping by arguing that Jesus preferred sandals to shoes-- Homer retorted with, "Well, maybe if he had had better arch support, they wouldn't have caught him."
Hell, with shoes like these, they'd have been squinting too hard to even come close. :-p
