In the 50s i could not stand wall clocks whatsoever :).
I loved to do what i wanted to do. These stupid clocks prevented me as a boy to stay up, late. However, only for a quarter of an hour. Then, restricted action was possible, like reading under cover, or escaping into the lovely night and so on ;).
