With me and this site, it was love at first sight! Colours are my passion and my religion. Making and naming colours on this website is wonderful, you get to combine two pleasant things. Fiddling with palettes and patterns works is great exercise for the visual eye.
I have been a user of this site for many years for pure pleasure but recently I have discovered the usefulness of Colourlovers as a source for inspiration in UX/UI design as well. However, the palette designs I am showcasing here are not created for professional or commercial use.
Although I've always been this way inclined, this site has sharpened my perception of colours a lot. Observing the environment has become an active event. I find a lot of inspiration in nature and I like (trying) to mimic its brilliance.
To me colours represent thoughts, words, ideas, shapes, tastes, sounds and states of mind. Put together in a palette, they make up poetic little universes with their own moods and weathers. They change from one moment to the next Loving a palette for one minute, hating it the next, or the other way around. Colours don't mind. The love never dies.
My long-lasting favourites are smoke blue, lime, terracotta and rust. I love water, aquatic creatures and all marine life. Orientalism is another thing that inspires me. Here's a series I made about the world's great rivers. Let's keep them alive!
COLOURlovers™ is an international community of designers and artists of all kinds who visit the site to get color inspiration, ideas and feedback for both their professional and personal projects.
