Your templates are terrific, eighteyed. Quite beautiful for one feeling so much pain. You can ignore me on this, but I'd love to see your titles reflect the inspiration for your designs—perhaps something like "Nowhere to Go" or even "Moving Backward." You might also consider adding a few words in the descriptions about the source of your inspiration.

Please try to understand that my palette wasn't intended as gloating but as an expression of my joy. I think that joy comes across in the colors, words, and music I chose. They in no way imply self-righteousness, arrogance, pomposity, or any similar attitudes. I did make a palette that, looking back, I now see was very insensitive and gloating. I feel bad about that one and have deleted it.

I get that you feel much differently about the election's outcome than I do. Please know that I fully relate to your feelings and have many times grieved deeply over the results of elections. I know, too, that it will take time for the anger, frustration, sadness, and worry to subside. In fact, those feelings will never go away completely for you as long as Obama's in office.

Finally, please let me share what I've learned after 40+ years of voting and what you probably know, too: America somehow always manages to muddle through the shortcomings of its leaders. Life always keeps "moving forward," and so does our country.

I wish you peace.

Huege, in no way have I made any direction about how this group should be run, only commented about my own feelings, actions, and preferences. As it happens, I do find this challenge borders on insensitive gloating, so I choose to sit this one out. But not without comment. I forgive the offense.
I, too, find politics artistically inspiring, even while crazymaking, which is why I channeled my late night hour upset into creating three intricate templates for the site. I hope you find them a constructive, non-divisive gift.
If you find my remarks out of tune with the spirit of this group, I should leave.
Common everyone! Create, don't debate!
Huege, I'm not American but I will take that challenge!

I believe this discussion shows why the IFRC Guidelines, regarding the color choice, specifically say:
"Also please avoid controversial names & delicate subjects such as politics and religion."
Well, perhaps the rule is a good one, but I must admit this discussion has made the two challenges more meaningful to me because of the controversy. Sometimes, it's good to bend the rules a bit.

And I swear it was pure coincidence that this was one of my color choices:

Since I proposed the double challenge, I thought I'd better attempt it myself.

Thanks Linda. I haven't applied for copyright, so feel free to repeat it :)

This is a fabulous comment, Dave. I wish I had said it!!
oops, I always find myself breaking rules!

Isn't that what artists do anyway?
xoxoxo

FYI - It's usually because I don't read them! lol

I like today's offering much better, but I'm still sitting out for this one. I really appreciate the group effort to modify the tone.
I'm not ultimately upset over the defeat of Romney, who was not really my candidate, but the one left by default. I'm not ultimately upset over my losing vote, because I knew up front that Texas is not a swing state. I could have stayed home and seen the same result. I'm more upset that, in my opinion, the will of the country is towards the wrong direction, not forward. I'm not sure at this moment I can Believe in America. If I have to believe in it, it's moved past the realm of the actual. It either is or is not. But I don't feel the need to expound about it. My opinions, which I certainly have, informed and passionate, are, like my vote, thence irrelevant to the fate of the nation. So are all of yours, my fellow Americans, unless you live in Ohio, apparently. I don't plan to move. Therefore for politics I'm adopting this motto: "The first rule of Fight Club is that we don't talk about Fight Club." And maybe, "You can't take the sky from me."

Huege, I take your point, which is certainly worth stating aloud, but one I think I already knew. O2bQueen, thanks for your kind compliments about my templates. As for the rest, it's not this second term, it's long term that concerns me. Presidents come and go, policy and regulation stays. Tyranny mounts. Those are chess players and matadors in Washington, and my vote, which I cast in hope just the same, is irrelevant. That kind of hurt takes a while to subside, I'm sorry. I've seen many elections also, at 52. I don't think an extra decade makes a difference there. As for the titles of my templates, I'm happy enough with them. I'd like them to evoke timeless design, universal appeal. Fat chance, but I try. Occasionally I do make patterns with some emotive title, and I share one made election night with you, for you especially.

Too early for the next colour? If not, how 'bout this beauty? Sorry too late in the evening for me to attempt the badge. Hopefully, there's a colouring companion out there feeling generous enough to make one?
