I love Orange....
1) What do you think of today's color?
I love Orange. I even favor orange with PINK :) as one of my favorite combo of the color. I think orange is very easy to work with as long as you stay on the right side of the undertones. The orange in this post is a strong almost dominating colour and this gives you 2 ways to play it up or down. Using complimentary or like colors and posting a palette with 5 equal and like colors that blend in print...or using the toggle option and going against the grain. Using the contrast divided out where the focus is pulled away from the orange and it's intent and purpose is for accent. That is the great thing about strong colors .
2) When there's a colour that doesn't inspire you, do you force yourself to play? Not really..it's like singing or music and the part it plays on your current mood. You hear a favorite or song with a really happy beat it can do a 100 percent change in your current self outlook and same for hearing a sad song . Typically colors are like music for me...if i am driving and a song comes on I do not like..I accept that its maybe my opinion and turn the channel..same with colors. Only difference a bad song will get stuck in your head for sure and it's much harder to forget .

2a) If yes for the above, have you noticed which kinds of hues/saturation/Values you are the less/most inspired?
The most overwhelming thing about color and displaying color is placement. More so than I ever realized before. You take 2 people , one color, various experiences and contributions from each , and your final product sometimes makes it hard to believe that the same color inspired each and how different the color looks seeing it through anothers eyes. ANother thing I have noticed and surprised me as much as anything is the colors you choose and the patterns, and where you place them in the palette and how they work or don't work...some of the most beautiful palettes will lack depth in coloring a pattern and then sometimes palettes that would never strike you as combinations like or would use make some of the most beautful coloring designs,. Every once in a while you will find that combo that no matter what you do or how you rearrange it ..or what pattern you use...it's beautiful. The sometimes you have a remarkable and striking combo that you cannot do anything with but move on.

3) Why do you think you play RC? I actually do not play it. But I do consider it one of my favorite areas to visit. I love seeing the interpretation and association of one color over many minds....and most of the time postings can be black and white to each other but yet both fit perfect. It' s a great exercise for training your senses to look past your innate insticts and experiment. One of the more interesting things I read not to long ago was a couple of the lovers here trying to do an "ugly: color association palette. The funny thing is that our minds have a hard time seeing bad combinations because we naturally will create an idea of complimenting things to do with that colour that we don't see the ones that make an ugly palette. If you don't believe this ...try it. Making an ugly palette... it is actually hard to do.

If anybody feels like answering... Thanks in advance!

Do you 'trash' many palettes?

Depends on the end result; if I hate it, goodbye! I will just get rid of (x) the colours that don't work or close the window and start over.

Do you 'trash' many palettes?

I do - I used to save them before but I end up with so many that I decided to always trash them. =)

LaughingJacks, you have only 2 palettes with black!! and 45 with white!
with erisnx , your quit the opposite of the actual average!

Thanks for answering!
My table was too long (table codes are very long) - the code got cut off at the end and totally broke the page layout! Took time to get to the delete button! Finally managed but I deleted my own answers to the questions by mistake .. =(
I'm putting it else where ...

QUESTIONS ABOUT IFRC

1) What do you think of today's color?
I did like the color but difficult to put into a palette.

2) When there's a colour that doesn't inspire you, do you force yourself to play?
Yes, but if I do not like what I am coming up with it will be trashed.

2a) If yes for the above, have you noticed which kinds of hues/saturation/Values you are the less/most inspired?
I agree with some of the others. The more saturation the harder it is to get everything to work well together. I like neutrals, more grey colors, and blue...

3) Why do you think you play RC?
The challenge of having to put one colour into a palette that I may not like. Also, using color that I would not use normally. Creativity abounds in RC.
Hey! Thanks Sidra for replying - quit different from the rest! =)
So we don't see you on dark blue day's - I'll keep an eye open for that (meaning if you do, it'll be something special!

I just checked - petty palette search options aren't as sharp as those for colours but we still manage to see that you have 1 palette with blue-purple and 32 for blue!
PS: there's 15 palettes per page in search results
PSPS: I now added you to the below table - I defined the limit of " who to put in the table" thinking those who reply these questions are those who also might be interested...

Funny that erisnx has the least palette but has the most B&W!

The total opposit to rafferty  !

=)
1) What do you think of today's color?
This colour touches me as silly, too cold, but quite cosy, like velvety colour. So I like it a little, in spite of blue is my most not in favour colour, especialy dark one.

2) When there's a colour that doesn't inspire you, do you force yourself to play?
No.

2a) If yes for the above, have you noticed which kinds of hues/saturation/Values you are the less/most inspired?
(Dark blue.)

3) Why do you think you play RC?
I don't play it. I don't know why. Surely there are many reasons, but I can't describe them. I think I played it few times, but already I can't remember why.
1) What do you think of today's color?
I love the blue... but I find the very primary colours difficult to use in palettes

2) When there's a colour that doesn't inspire you, do you force yourself to play?
Yes! And yes again!! I play whenever I can. I love the challenge. I love the challenge of having to find ways to use colours I would normally go past without a second glance.

2a) If yes for the above, have you noticed which kinds of hues/saturation/Values you are the less/most inspired?
I often find the colours I initially think will be the easiest to use are the hardest. I find the clearer and brighter the colours are - the more difficult they are to use in a palette. Some colours just like to be the star - and don't play well with others - lol...

3) Why do you think you play RC?
Like so many of you - I love to see how different people use the same colour. How one colour can be treated so differently and made to look so different.
I also found it's a great way to get to know people better :)
But mostly I use it as a way to experiment a little more than I usually would. I often find I'm not entirely happy with most of my RC palettes... but very occasionally I get one that I feel is just what I wanted it to be. I can never pick which of my RC palettes will attract the most love... more often than not it will be the one I least expect people will like!
But one of the big attractions is the anticipation of seeing what the day's colour will be. I love surprises! lol
