Show Me the Color! The Pixlr Color Pop Contest #PixlrPop

A Pixlr Expansion Pack is used in photo overlays, borders or stickers in their impressive and fun photo editing apps. Remember to use #PixlrPop on social media to tag and follow the fun!

To enter the contest, you will need two components:

1. A Pattern Template (one or more)... specifically, one you made.

2. A bunch of your own color-popping Palettes to color your Pattern Template(s)

3. After you've gotten a collection of bright and powerful colored patterns ready to submit, head on over to the Contest Submission Page and submit like crazy (every day).

Where to start?

I have made some tutorial video's over the past couple weeks, however, they go in to a lot of detail, so don't worry, I've thrown together a CRASH COURSE to jumpstart and survive the contest!

You will be creating using:

Pattern Template Maker: Seamless Lite

Palette Making: COPASO or Basic Palette Maker

More in-depth resources:

- Intro to Seamless Studio

Basic Palette Making

Advanced Palette Making

So what's in it for you?

If your design is chosen (aka you win), it will be used to inspire the Pixlr Design Team's choices in the development of the COLOURlovers Expansion Pack as a photo overlay, border, or sticker. These are design elements used throughout Pixlr apps, but more specifically you'll get to see them available on Pixlr Express (for free!). Pretty exciting!

Eight (8) Winners! Check out how the winners-scale works!

This is something more unique to the COLOURlovers contests. I personally love the concept Colin has put together because it allows more overall opportunity.

* Each day a winner will be selected (behind the scenes by Pixlr & the CL Team)

* Be sure to submit and keep submitting each day (as many times as possible!). You must submit content each day to be re-considered for that day. I highly suggest, making fresh designs for each new day. CONTEST SUBMISSION PAGE (again!)

This means each day of the contest is an opportunity to win something (you can only win once throughout the entire contest). It will not matter what time of each day you post, between 12:01am to 11:59pm PST (with the exception of the start and end dates) because the submissions will be randomized in a filtered gallery for the judges panel.

gmt to pst

Community LOVES will still be available on submissions, however this filter is not displayed to the judges at choosing time, nor will it affect decisions in the slightest. We did want to do something fun with the community loves so we'll be giving five (5) Sponsorship 1-year level-up or extensions to COLOURlovers members design submissions with the most Loves. *You may only win once in this category.

LOVES have nothing to do with the big prizes and winning the contest.

To be "totally transparent" - we recycled an old contest module to work with our limited budget and the LOVE button came with it. Colin and legal made the contest more legit by taking away the ability to land in a "popular vote" situation. Because the button came with the module, Colin and myself decided to toss out a win for Sponshorships. Which seems fitting for the community to vote on anyway - popular designers (because of their hard work) should be commended with sponsorship. It was supposed to be a fun extra chance to win something.

With an international community we have done our best with the legalities we have to follow in order to remotely provide a contest on the Internet as a company with cool physical prizes.

We have done our best to provide a fun and equal as possible opportunity for the majority of the community as possible.

It comes down to no contests or contests with some limitations as to countries who can participate. Those aren't our directives, those are the rules and legal of throwing certain types of contests online.

I agree with Eighteyed. With such big prices to be won, this will be very difficult to give everyone an equal chance. Another thing I've noticed is voting for "the artist" and not for the Pattern. Make the Patterns anonymous with only a Title.
Happy anniversary, Molly! I'm so glad you took the weekend off! :) I hope you (all) had an amazing time.

Thanks for answering all our questions. I imagine it must feel a bit like ministering to hungry baby birds, sometimes.
molly thank you, that is all I needed, and I did not mean to infer if that is the way it was perceived, that you had done anything wrong by leaving for the weekend, it was the close of the contest without an answer that I was stressing about.

Maybe I should explain, I am almost OCD about the little details, been in business, saving everyone else's businesses for so long that the little details are not always so little. I had my own property management business, basically saving everyone's upside down about to be bankrupt or already in the midst of foreclosure properties, that the little details, well they never were so little. (Mainly Residential/Commercial Rental Complexes and the like)

So while my question was little and meant that way, it got blown all out of proportion. I am basically a newbie here, still trying to figure my way around things, how it all works together, pallets and patterns etc, that I felt a little lost, and this is my first online contest of any kind, so I was just trying to cover everything, so I didn't make a mistake (another OCD quirk or fear).

Thank you for the response.

Next time please simply send a LOVE note if you feel the comments are getting blown out of proportion.

The "people running the contest" are basically myself and Colin. It's not a big team. :) we are coordinating with Pixlr but they are not running it.

I hope to see your submissions!

I am so sorry, this was a simple question as to whether or not I could submit some of the patterns I created in seamless studio, as it was my understanding that only seamless lite patterns were acceptable in the contest as per the contest rules.

Which was also perceived the same by UPtimist as per their response in the post above "b. Create a pattern and color it using the free tools on COLOURlovers.com and submit it for consideration."

I have only been here a short while, and only wanted some clarification not a battle. It was a simple question nothing more.
Same here Molly, Happy Anniversary <3 So glad you got to get away and have some fun. You just have to do that and it is wonderful that you did :D
Team
Totally get it!! Many of us here are a tad hyper OCD. :) no harm done!

Being new here you also aren't familiar with community issues years past. It's cool! :) good luck! Feel free to send me a love note!

Hi everyone! First I'd like thank those trying to lend support in my absence over the weekend. I am currently traveling back from a holiday weekend - To be quite blunt and open, it was for my 10-year wedding anniversary, so while I normally do pop on to CL over the weekends, this was not one of them, contest or not, I do have a personal life. :) ...and while I actually work very non-traditional hours, I work from my home office between my kids/family schedules and it is not 9-5 (we don't have the budget for that) and I'm all you've got right now. :) the contest had to happen on this calendar and just so happened to collid with my holiday. So... Now that we are clear on why I wasn't here, let me talk about the other points being discussed.

To be continued in another comment.

GASP, you didn't forewarn us number 1
Number 2 you didn't tell us where you were going so we all could crash in.

We all could have showed up with our laptops and asked you what you thought before each submission, now I am insulted that we all didn't get an invite.

LOL just kidding, happy anniversary, I am sorry you came back to me stressing..
Team
Haha totally no problem. If we can't roll with things and move on it would be a shame :)
A new batch. :)

I'd really like to see more people posting their entries here the way we used to. It's a great way to get more people to see them. :) C'mon and post!

This is pretty cool…it should have more votes!

Thanks, Huege! I love this one of Kalindy's, and I never saw it in the randomizer. :)

I also love this one, and think it deserves more votes, too!

I had fun with it, although none of mine were seen in the randomizer, i still had fun entering my patterns.
Thank you Molly, you did a great job, it seems none of my entries will count (cos i use SStudio) but such is life.
No entries after 5/26/2015 right? I from the Pittsburgh area.
Team
HopeFully - silly.

Seamless Studio / Seamless Lite it didn't matter. They will count.
