Celebrate Citrus Like It Used To Be

Unripe

This weeks inspirational colours and patterns started with a vintage styled wedding I was perusing on www.stylemepretty.com. It brought back wonderful childhood memories of my grandma’s closet and my retro fad in high school. Do you remember your mom or grandma with that citrus print apron, dress or Pyrex collection? This couple took their day straight back to the 50’s full fledge basing their look and feel off the memory of vintage oranges.

A lot of handmade details went into the wedding preparation, but again, we’re back to simple colour choice, design and detail – although unique, was kept simple.

I got a kick out of the bridesmaid dresses! The colours are fantastic! Notice that although they went with the orange as a base, they didn’t use the colour orange as a primary focus. Green kissed with a bit of orange flair here and there created such energy in the clothing and accessories.

A great resources for vintage items that I keep coming back to is Etsy.com. You can find some lovely hand printed vintage flowers or citrus cards. Some people may not have the time or knack for the handmade affair and Etsy artists have really got some talent!

You can also just find some unique vintage items weather handmade or not [on Etsy]. For instance, I discovered these Francis of Assisi 1982 20 cent stamps which could be used in place setting tags, table decor and more. There actually seems to be quite a few vintage stamps available. Vintage card games can also be used in table tags and decor. Combine some old patterns with old stuff and you’ve got a great looking theme! Have fun with it!
