33 Masters of CG Art: Awesome Digital Inspiration

Digital art is becoming hyper realistic, not just in duplicating real scenes life but also in painting vivid pictures of what fantasy worlds would look like. Feature films and the exploding world of video games are beginning to show what talent, creativity and hard work can produce with CG... Expect even more mind blowing creations to be reaching you on the big screen and in your consoles soon.

I love showcasing the work of creative people and the work below caught my eye as I was browsing the community over at CG Hub. As a COLOURlover, I especially appreciate how the use of color can dramatically affect the mood or energy of art...

Many of the images below have been cropped from much bigger images. Make sure to click through to see the artwork at high-res and full glory.

I would think the answer is pretty obvious. It's easy to make a still look good. It does not move. Doing the same with a CG animation is a whole other animal. I speak from experience. When a CG creation stays still in a static scene you came make it look real. Your mind/eye sees more than you think it does. You will usually be able to spot CG animation because it is missing many of the minor bits we don't consciously see but notice none the less.

Truly amazing selections ... some of these works are like an outer body experience ..... can't quite describe that unique feeling that enslaves my soul when looking at these. Great post guys :D

Most of these images have been produced by some very clever and talented individuals. The realism in some cases is amazing. But, don't take it the wrong way: none of the art really moves me, none of it seems profound in the the way that art from my favourite artists is. Obviously subjective, but am I wrong in drawing a distinction between skilled graphic crafters and inspirational artists?
