I have to say, when I've thought of Utah in the past, color was not a word that I would have associated with the hot, arid, and rocky terrain pictured in my mind's eye. That is until my introduction to the landscape photography of Jeremy Davies. Jeremy is one of the many fantastic photographers that work with us here at myPhotopipe, and his work brings depth and visual artistry to a landscape just as vibrant as his approach and technique. Jeremy has a way of interpreting what he sees and feels in the world around him into a tangible manifestation the rest of us can admire from  a distance that's oftentimes otherworldly, yet connect with personally.

Color-loving homeowners can have some of the most attractive abodes around. Their houses have vibrant front doors and their yards gush with lively flowerbeds. Perhaps they have colorful bird feeders hung from porches or trees, or bold mosaic tiles around swimming pools and along walkways. One of the more fun projects I've seen recently are these prints of original acrylic paintings by Laura Weiszer -- an illustrator, designer, and student from Philadelphia, PA. The prints are from her Etsy shop, The Wes Anderson Project.

I love these portraits because they bring a whole different kind of quirk and personality to these faces we know so well. The colors not only capture the feel of Anderson's films, but they also just look so vibrant and awesome.

What would it be like to be able to browse all of the world's colors with your fingertips? Artist Tauba Auerbach has helped answer that question in a really creative way.

Auerbach, in collaboration with Daniel E. Kelm, has taken every color there is and placed them in three amazing 8 x 8 x 8-inch case bound books called the RGB Colorspace Atlas. Each volume contains a different color scheme and they were created with digital offset print on paper, while the cloth covers and page edges were airbrushed.

Feast your eyes on their colorful, cubic creations.

J.J. Grandville was a French caricaturist known for his satirical illustrations. He often featured parahuman and anthropomorphic characters to emphasize his political commentary and satire.

Published posthumously in 1847, Les Fleurs Animées (The Flowers Personified) is both a satirical and poetic collection of botanical illustrations. Considered by many to be a masterpiece, the original book featured 54 etched and hand-colored illustrations depicting the enchanting world of floral maidens. While the Victorian societal references may not mean that much to us now, the amazing color and character detail have definitely retained their magic after all these years.

These particular illustrations are from an 1867 edition of the book and are available in the public domain.

It’s easy to become entrapped in images of picturesque, snow-capped mountains; sparkling, blue and white rapids; and gold-dusted plains when you think of Colorful Colorado, but what you don’t think about are the many shades of beer this vibrant state has to offer. Sean Buchan is a Colorado-based photographer specializing in beer photography, or “beertography” as he likes to call it. His photographs expose the myriad of colors found in Colorado beers, as well as give you a glimpse into the vivid backdrop in which Colorado beers are produced.

Many of Colorado’s best brew flavors start with hops. These hops are from Voss Farms in Arvada, Colorado, where Cascade, Centennial, Willamette, and Chinook hops are grown. The popping greens scream summer and life.

A couple months ago, Vijay Pandurangan posted the Colours in movie posters since 1914 -- an interactive data visualization that shows the way colours have evolved in the fine art of the movie poster throughout the years.

One of first things you'll probably notice is the prevalence of orange and how the increased use of blue has been a steady trend over the last 100 years. Is this due to printing processes evolving? The shift from hand-painting to photography to computers? Shifts in genre popularity? Or perhaps Hollywood has some sort of fine-tuned scientific process they're using (doubt it ;). Unfortunately those are big questions and this was a side project, but regardless, the information Vijay was able to put together is fantastic.
