I appreciate your insightful observations -- you seem to be a truly dyed-in-the-wool ColourLover - I'm surprised you haven't tried pattern making.
If you work with fonts, you could start with the alphabet shapes!

The pattern IS awesome, but it's the colours that really make it . . . . the pinks and oranges really pop against a dusty blue, but the blue tempers them, so they're not too retina searing or garish. It's a really beautiful harmony.

In the summer, I like sitting on my balcony and blowing bubbles, watching for the soapy prisms that occur when the sunlight catches them. This pattern has captured that perfectly, which is why I like it so darn much.
