Description

Last night we heard the most wonderful, yet intriguing music coming from our neighbor's backyard. They invited us over for awhile and the instrument that was being played is called an *oud* - something I had seen many times but didn't know the name of. Besides making beautiful music, the instrument itself was a work of art. We failed to take pictures but I found one online that will give you a good idea. ((See the link below)) There were 3 ouds being played but the one that I tried to capture with this palette is closest to the second picture on the link page - the one with the mosaic-patterned back. The mosaic was different but still just as spectacular. Learning something new everyday!

What is it about this palette that I love!?

Desert Glitter

Love the palette! It's so relaxing and warm... Oud sounds more like "good" with the lengthened o sound.. But in Arabic it sounds completely different as they have this other sound added to the beginning.

gorgeous!, gorgeous palette

Thanx! As for the pronounciation - they told us it was more like ood.. long o sound.. rhymes with dude -- sorta .. but of course even the way that sounds on the turkish tongue is more melodic and pretty than how it sounds when I try to say it :o)

Beautiful . . . it makes me want to hop a flight to the Middle East. Love the dark navy with the sandy browns. And I learned something too - I always wanted to know what those were called! (Does it rhyme with "loud"?)

My Husband plays the Oud and I agree it is wonderful... The colors are fantastic...
