My two cents: I think this site should be set up to give people 2 options: either rate your pattern/palette 5 hearts, or not rate it at all. Simple as that. There's no point in giving some anonymous jackass the ability to rate your work 1 heart. This should be a website which invokes POSITIVE creative energy - not negative. Once the ability to downrate is taken away, a creation in the Top Palette/Pattern pages should be there based solely on the NUMBER of people who rated the creation (& then of course followed by the same criteria which is factored in now).

Personally, I'm not competitive on this site by any means, & I couldn't care less whether my work makes it into the Top Rated pages or not, but seeing a palette/pattern of mine rated 1 heart for no apparent reason is enough to make even the most confident person feel like crap for a minute or two.
