I also agree about the hypocrisy of having poverty and Olympic extravagance side by side. I know here in England about half of the population are below the poverty line, and yet they still expect us all to contribute to the 2012 Olympic fund. The theory is that we will all benefit from the additional revenue during the London Olympics. But that is where the problem lies... We don't all live in London!
I have to say though, that the Chinese have set the bar extremely high in terms of the Opening Ceremony. I just hope our team here in Britain can think of some thing equally fantastic.
