Also, do you have a lot of wildlife in your area? That could be a factor as well - but we'll consider that after pursuing regular pool maintenance.

Glad you alerted us; better to ask others than to risk kids getting ill because of it. Very responsible of you, I think. Don't worry, we'll figure this out.
