WOW, that's RIGHT, I forgot about that !!! It has been so many years since I read it. I TOO am drawn to tragedy, lol. I don't know why but I am a sucker for a sad movie or book. I think I just may read it AGAIN !!! I totally get what you are saying about women changing themselves. I WAS one of those girls/women. I thought I had to be PERFECT (physically) to be worthy of the love of a man. Needless to say, it was insanity ~ why would I want to be with a man with such shallow requirements !!! I am so glad that it is different/better for this generation. We still have a long way to go but at least there is a dialogue about body image. Back when I felt this way, I thought I was the only one. I still "pick" on myself sometimes but try very hard to stop the negative talk.

It sticks out to me, as well! But I guess that is because I'm drawn to tragedy. :P This must be why I used to devour all of Oprah's Book Club picks. They all make you want to commit suicide.

The whole story was just so sad, but the part that got me most was when she lost all that weight just to get the guy then the as***** beats the hell out of her leaves (sorry to anyone who hasn't read the book!) Stories in which women feel they have to change themselves, especially their weight, in order to be loved break my heart.

I forgot that I had read the book !!!! It did not have the same effect on me. My stepdaughter really loved it. She is adept at picking up the symbolisms & such. I am not, I really admire people who have that gift, you are probably one of them. When someone explains it too me , I'm like WOW !!! After all these years, the part that sticks out in my mind is when she let the goldfish die, I have no idea what that says about me as a person, LOLzzz ; )))

I read the book and I was depressed for like a week afterward. -_- But the palette is beautiful!
