Description

In King Henry IV, Part One, Shakespeare describes the sun as a “hot wench in flame-colored taffeta.” The same could be said of the soulself. It’s like a tiny flame that absorbs everything that touches it. Imagine striking a match in a forest. Every element that touches the flame (air, wood, leaves) makes it get bigger and more expansive. Left undisturbed, the flame will spread in all directions as long as there is fuel to fan it. Only when the flame is blocked by barriers does it slow down. Once the obstacles are moved, the energy of the flame begins growing again. The flame of the soulself expands with every other energy in contact, whether that energy be in the form of people, experiences, or elements. It becomes one with all in its widening path. It grows faster and faster until no shred of knowledge or awareness remains untouched.

Indeed, the process of life is to absorb and encompass. We expand and evolve like the universe. We create out of our own expansion. We self-actualize. And the energy/fire of this process can never be put out because it is limitless.

Like a tiny flame, the soulself effortlessly transforms energy to reach higher and higher. The process is one of becoming more of who you are. (Flame-colored taffeta optional.)
