I do love the Colin Firth version, but there are things to like about the Keira Knightley movie too... Basically what it comes down to, I don't know if there's a version I don't like just because I love the story so much. I grew up on the 80's version, so that's close to my heart as well.

You know I love HP... and so Alan Rickman is... Snape personified, but you probably don't know how much I love (well, not as females do, but let's say appreciate...) Mr. Darcy. and for my money - the older longer version with Colin Firth was the best. I still think when my wife wants me to put on a white shirt she's secretly hoping that I may dive into a pool of water.

And Aslan... well, He is completely 'other' isn't He. He's not safe. But He's good!

Haha! I understand completely. I Google a LOT of things! ;)

Oh, thank you! Glad you like them!

You know, there were so many deaths in the last book that I'm afraid by the end I was becoming a bit numb. I felt like more time could and should have been spent on, not just Snape's death, but the others as well. Maybe the whole point was that Harry was becoming numb to them as well, so we were only feeling what he was towards the end.

Gosh Anakin, yes. And Snape, yes, yes oh yes! You know, I had a hunch about Snape being actually good, you know? And when he died I went like, "No......!"

Great, great choices there, my friend :)

Oh, I think you'll enjoy it! And if you've never seen the 80s' movies, I'd recommend those too!

Oh, oh, oh! Aslan ♥♥♥ Fabulous pick! Anakin and Snape, too.

I was really sympathetic toward Snape; I always thought he was that poor little kid from the wrong side of the tracks who never got a break. Lilly Evans was the only good thing that ever happened to him. And then at Hogwarts, he falls in with the wrong crowd, makes all the wrong decisions, and loses her for good… And then has to live with the guilt. Talk about your tragedy! (Alan Rickman – oh, superb!)

And now I'm putting Anne of GG on my list. I'm ashamed to admit I've never read it, and now after quite a few of the ME group have mentioned it, it's time! : )

Yes, especially the movie version of it!! Alan Rickman knows how to tug at my heartstrings!

I cried and cried when I read and saw that scene with Snape and his love for Lilly.

I can concur with that assessment of his character! As I was writing "bad guy turned good", I thought, sort of a bad guy.. and sort of a good guy. You're right, he was still a jerk, and he never admitted that he cared for Harry in any sort of way. But it must have been awfully hard for him to hide his true motives right up to his death.
