It's A Special B-Day

Even though I always had (very) small birthday parties at home when I was young, they were not really special.. Until I was seventeen.

When I was in high school, sometimes my mother would ask me when I would like to have a boyfriend. Though I had a long-time crush on a boy back then, I simply stated to my mother, "I'll have a boyfriend later, when I'm seventeen." Mum always smiled and laughed, telling me that it's okay if I have one before I'm seventeen, as long as I know the limits, but I insisted that I would have a boyfriend when I'm seventeen.

And it happened, just around three weeks before my seventeenth birthday.

The birthday itself was a small and simple party, but with my family and the cake my mother brought from my hometown (I was living somewhere else that time due to study), plus the presence of my boyfriend, it was truly a special birthday party. Even now I couldn't forget how shy I was to send my boyfriend an invitation via text message -- it was my mother's idea! And to be honest, when he came, I feel like I wanted to hide somewhere in the cupboard...
