nice color combo and thanks for letting us know abou the origin of Cockney.
my childhood language which am sorta proud of, so something i just had to do.:) happy that u have interest
yonks is understood and used in general conversation,as u know now it means long time ago, cushty we use around our way, i think most Englishmen understand it, both are slang. Cushty comes from the Jewish word Kosher. The first cockneys were Jewish i read up once in a famous book of somebody called Matthews, all about the history of London. Jolly interesting it was too. Don't get me started, i got a thing about history lol
p.s. yonks we use also for lots of....i just looked it up for origin, comes from donkey, which seems logical to me for some reason.

Actually I learned two other terms as well -- cushty and yonks. I had to google yonks. Are cushty and yonks slang or is it used in general conversation?
