I tend to mix Muppetshow and Sesame Street - Though I think they are basically different productions...

I am a bit obsessed with the Muppets, they introduce the band in the original Muppet Movie and I've seen it a million times. Jim Henson is one of my personal heros, he brought so much joy and colour to the world. When I was in high school I used to make sock puppets all the time for myself and my friends. For my 18th birthday they made me a Sock Puppet Theatre with blue velvet curtains and everything which was incredibly awesome. The Muppet Show was always intended as a completely different animal to Sesame Street (other than of course the presence of Muppets). Sesame Street is an educational show for young kids and The Muppet Show was created to be entertainment for adults (though the two worlds do of course collide from time to time). Before you ask, the two old guys on the balcony are named Statler and Waldorf:)

Sorry, I'm not subscribed to discussions so I didn't realise you'd asked me a question. Yes, Animal is the drummer. Janice is the Girl (based I assume on Joplin) and Floyd s the other guitarist (since he's pink that one's a bit of a dead give away:) Dr Teeth on keyboards I'm guessing is based Dr John and Zoot would probably be Zoot SIms (which I only know because I'm a saxophonist myself:) If I have any of these wrong then feel free to correct me, I'd love to know for sure.

Ok, according to wikipedia, Floyd's full name is Sgt. Floyd Pepper so he's a tribute to The Beatles as well. I never knew that before, very cool:)
I don't think there's anybody as knowledgeable as you in the field!
We have a real expert here!

Ok, according to wikipedia, Floyd's full name is Sgt. Floyd Pepper so he's a tribute to The Beatles as well. I never knew that before, very cool:)

OK I wiki-checked it up:
Animal is the drummer, and arguably the most famous member of the band, being the only member to have appeared in every feature film and the only member in the regular cast of the Muppet Babies spin-off cartoon. He is named for his wild behavior and drumming. Some speculate the character is based on Keith Moon, while others have suggested Mick Fleetwood[3]. In the April 8, 2002, episode of Inside the Actors Studio, Billy Joel claimed that Liberty was the inspiration for The Muppets character Animal, but most others say there is no evidence he was based on anyone.
Frank Oz operated Animal from his first appearance until 1999; in 2002 newcomer Eric Jacobson took over. In Muppet Babies he was voiced by Howie Mandel (1984–1985) and Dave Coulier (1986–1991). Animal was also played by Kevin Clash in Muppets Tonight and by Bill Barretta in Muppetfest. Animal's drumming was performed by British jazz and big band drummer Ronnie Verrell . His first appearance was in the original pilot, "Sex and Violence!", and he has had numerous other appearances on television, in advertising, and even on a U.S. postage stamp.

to find out that I KNOW NOTHING about the musicians of that period!

But he sure looks cool! Looks very grungy to me! ^^'

Thank you!
