This reminds me of how the Korean language has "vowel harmony" in its grammar, avoiding heavy clusters of consonants. "To pronounce a phrase like 'primrose paths to glory' a Korean is tempted to insert six extra vowels to break up the converging consonant sounds" (Richard Rutt, The Bamboo Grove).
