Shibalba
On my way to shibalba
I fell asleep in her arms
Golden clouds of light Wrapped around a dying star
There I felt so safe and warm
Floating up to heaven upon her frail wings
There’s a stillness so profound
The earth floats a thousand miles below
Her body lies there ‘neath the ground
I watched a sparrow
Eat from the tree of life
Her flesh was the fruit of that tree above her grave
Now with the sparrow she flies
On my way to shibalba
My dreams kept me awake
Sleeping deep in her gentle arms
Heaven didn’t seem so far way
Just a few more miles along this ancient road
Between the palace and the flesh
The earth floats a thousand miles below
There her body still rests
Upon the wind a seed was carried
From the branches that grew above her grave
Where it landed a tree took root and grew
And there her flesh was born again
On my way to shibalba
Sifting through my memories
All the people whose lives I touched
Were floating next to me
It’s so hard to leave this world behind
All the pleasures of the flesh
Her painted eyes will always haunt my mind
In the end I guess their all that’s left
Our love’s immortal it’s sacred flames
Burn longer than the stars
They spread like wild flowers
Across the prairies of our hearts
