Today we have a few pretty cool things going on to brighten up your Monday a little bit. A mini FLOR contest with a 2 FLOR tile up for grabs and a Color Hunt Challenge.

Its isn't very often that you see color like this in neighborhoods, but those that have the opportunity to create something like this are pretty darn lucky. Sure, we can paint our doors fun colors, but often times people don't go far as to paint the exterior bold colors like as pink or red.

I love this public staircase, if only more cities did things like this. There are a variety of ways you can paint front doors, but I'm partial to this bold mustard yellow color.

We have seen geometric patterns inundate our homes, our decor and our style. Let's find out what inspires her, what keeps her going and what got her to this point.

First up, why don't you tell the community a bit about who you are, what you do, how long you have been doing it, and your background. 

My name is Melanie. I've been blogging daily at You Are My Fave for the last four years but I do a handful of other things too like throw parties and assist Design Mom. I'm also a pro at watching an entire TV series over the course of one weekend.

I graduated from college in the slacker major of Communications with an emphasis in advertising. After a series of unfortunate jobs, I started my blog and haven't looked back since. Of course the things I learned in my major have helped me with all this social media biz.

In this weeks Community Roundup we will be posting the results of the Carnival Challenge, put together by Sunmeadow. Also featured is the Shamrock Challenge, as it continues and some great groups about song lyrics, Spoonflower and even a group feature from another community, deviantart.

I've also pulled together a small collection of flower shapes to feature. If you have been trying to figure out pattern template design or want to better your skills, I think taking a study of different shapes in their simple form is a great start to figure out how COLOURlovers are layering and assembling their patterns.

This is a feature to a newer, fresher group on deviantart.com. It currently boasts 58 members, so if you're also a member over there and want to join up an active group here you are.

In looking through the group, I found this inspirational art piece, I loved how COLOURlovers palettes inspired it.

Found myself on COLOURlovers the other day, and decided I wanted to paint Venom. I searched 'Venom' and the first palette to come up was one called S & M, and then I wanted to add Matthew into the mix, so I searched 'Antidote' and I found another palette which you can find here!

Matthew was much harder to paint because of the palette, than Venom was because of hers. Her palette just made her palette just made her look like she was under green lighting. Matthew's was impossible to do anything like that with, but it sort of works. - A note from the artist

Now let's go ahead and check in with her on her favorite colors to decorate with and where she thinks home decor style is headed in 2012.

First up, why don't you tell the community a bit about who you are, what you do, how long you have been doing it, and your background.  

I am Michelle Jennings Wiebe, the President/Principal Designer of Studio M Inc., a national interior design firm based in Tampa, FL.  I began the firm 20 years ago, pretty much right out of college. I have always wanted to be an interior designer; even since I was a young girl, drawing floor plans and decorating glorious Barbie houses.  I went on to graduate from Florida State University, with my degree in Interior Design.  (Go Seminoles!)  I am also a chocolate connoisseur, a travel buff, and love a great pair of shoes!

Comic Sans is installed more on PCs. Why so serious Linux & Mac? That's just one of the many things we discovered while looking into the creative history of typography aka fonts. Though all of his designs jump-off from basic geometric shapes, his work gets more sophisticated as he layers on his color palette, cuts and rearranges the shapes in the frame, and develops unexpected patterns and textures. In the words of one commenter, he creates work that “you can get lost in - they are busy, but somehow calming at the same time.”

At first glance, the design covering this pillow seemed to have sequins on it, but on second glance, this is illusion created by bold color choices and the juxtapositions.
