Drift Studio Table Design Contest

Howdy COLOURlovers! It's been a little while since our last contest, but we have a great excuse -- we've been working with the folks at Drift Studio to cook up something special we think you're going to enjoy. :)

Drift Studio is an incubator for design and product ideas. Their mission is to create elegant and thoughtful products that marry form and function while offering something more – the ability to personalize. Attention to detail, quality materials and craftsmanship form the foundation of furniture you can be proud of.

For this contest, Drift Studio is excited to engage the COLOURlover's community to help design tops for its new line of coffee tables, Riff Tables. A coffee table can be one of the most central focal points of a room's decor. Use your creative juices to create a conversation piece that will look great and display your unique personality!

How to enter

This contest is open to all COLOURlovers. To enter, visit the Drift Studio Table Design Contest page and submit your best patterns and color palettes to design a tabletop. Entries are limited to a maximum of three per person.

Contest dates

The entry period for this contest starts today, November 5th, and ends on Tuesday, November 13th. Voting for submissions will remain open until Thursday, November 15th. Winners will be announced here on the blog Friday, November 16th.

Voting process

The first place winner will be chosen by the team at Drift Studio. Second and Third place will be determined based on the number of "loves" received from the community. A Fourth place winner will be chosen at random by the COLOURlovers team.

Prizes

First prize: a Drift Studio table made from the winning design
Second prize: a small table from Drift Studio.
Third prize: a $100 gift certificate that can be used towards the purchase of a table from Drift Studio.
Fourth prize: a $50 gift certificate that can be used towards the purchase of a table from Drift Studio.

**Important shipping note: although the contest is open to our global community, Drift Studio is only able to ship domestically at this time. International winners will need to have a US-based friend receive the product and handle the overseas shipping.**

+++++++

As an added bonus, you can save your tabletop designs and upload them at DriftStudio.com to purchase a table with your very own design. How cool is that!

Have fun everyone, can't wait to see all of your colorful tabletops. :)

In my browser, this contest lets you enter any template pattern, whether it's your own original or not. Did you mean to do that? I see potential problems, if so.

This will be my only entry for this contest. It is honor of my home ...NJ. The seashore which I love so deeply was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The places I have treasured my entire life are gone..they are no more. Our coastline was changed geographically. Many people lost everything..their homes, vehicles, belongings, pictures, businesses...some, their very lives. I am blessed, as all my family and friends are accounted for. May God comfort and bless those who are not as lucky. Eventually, it will be rebuilt and we will remain Jersey Strong. Much love~~~

What browser? In Firefox 16.0.2 you can only submit patterns from the templates you made... O_O

It's not the main contest entry form, but the form of "Enter this Contest" from any pattern page I've made.

Okay, I tried to enter one of yours as an example, and the pattern was ineligible, so they fixed the form. But the picture still shows up as if you could enter it. So no problems, all is okay.

Hi ColourLovers. This is Brent at Drift Studio. Wow already, so many great entries. Just wanted to say how excited we are about these tables and this contest. Can't wait to see all the creative designs. Honestly, these tables are turning out sooo well. It's really fun to be able to design a piece of furniture that has so much impact in the room where it sits. We should have an image gallery up on our website asap http://driftstudio.com/tables/ Happy creating and good luck!

Hi CoulourLovers. It's Brent again at Drift studio. Just checking out the new submissions after dinner. This is really fun! Nice work. I noticed several of the designs have white elements which really turn out great. We are printing directly on birch wood tops and any white areas just let the wood color and grain show through, which adds a nice detail. Certainly not necessary, but it is something to think about. If you look at some our images, I will often (but not always) leave some portion of a design white or blank to let the warmth of the wood show through. Food for thought. Keep the designs coming!

My entries probably aren't contemporary enough, but what the heck. They'd be dramatic, and maybe someone would like that. Good luck, all. You've got some fabulous submissions already.

Have you played around with the template design program here at all? Some of the entries are very intrictate. You can get some really ornate designs just using the vectors that come with the program. =)

Hey guys,
Is there any way to *withdraw* an entry? I'd like to replace one of mine with something else!

And Brent, thanks for this chance to explore design in your world :-)

Drift Studio

I have been messing around with it a bit, and will spend more time with it. I'm surprised how powerful it is. Some of the designs you guys can get out of it are amazing. In general, I'm loving this Colourlovers site.

Hi There. I'm not sure about withdrawing entries. I'll ask colourlovers and get back to you. You are absolutely welcome for the contest. Our whole mission is to create objects that have an element of interactive design or at least the ability for artists to contribute in some way. This is really fun for me, so thank you...

Hey Penina, unfortunately there's no easy way for us to do this at the moment. Sorry!
