FLOR has always been an innovator and a pioneer. We care about our planet and its future and seriously consider our eco-footprint in everything we do. That includes what happens when FLOR has lived its useful life. FLOR has developed what is revolutionary in the residential carpet industry - a Return & Recycle Program. Once your FLOR rug has lived a long and full life ship your rug back (FLOR foots the shipping bill) and FLOR recycles every piece of your rug so it can be reused to create a brand new FLOR rug.
And now, for the winner of the FLOR Facebook contest. Congratulations to Silvia Carra who will be receiving a 6 tile FLOR rug!

The winner of the FLOR design contest is the person who received the most "love" votes on their rug design. The $500 FLOR gift card goes to "Dream Weave" by Origamimei with 73 votes.
The second place winner is for the design that received the second most "love" votes on their design entry. The $100 FLOR gift card goes to "Sun on the Sea" by Pennington with 69 votes.

Thanks again to everyone who entered and everyone who voted. We hope you had some fun designing with FLOR these past 2 weeks.

There were so many amazing entries, many which were much better than mine yet you guys voted for my entry, That not only shocks me, but really peps me up after a particularly difficult month.
My sister needs to add some color to her apartment so the $500 gift certificate will be going to her, so she can liven up her floors!
Thank you, everyone. This is just fantastic. Thank you thank you thank you!
Also: Congratulations, Manda!! Your entry is beautiful and I'm so glad to see you win a prize for it. xoxo

It's REALLY hard to search for entries by lover... he took them down off his page so now I can't find his entry. (I was going to post it to show you how awesome it was.)
We can't even search by color. So it's hard to find entries to "love." I wish there were a better way to get votes other than being a popular colourlover who gets lots of hits on their page. Anyway, maybe in the future there can be some kind of organizer that organizes the entries into categories like colors, or feelings (warm, cool, dark, bright) or some other way so that we don't have to click through soooo many. LOL
Eh. I can't find the awesome entry by Huege but I really like this one, too.

Just something to think about for the future if anybody wants views. Post your entry on the blog entry about the contest and try to be on the first page. You get lots of views! And Mei, I'm sorry about the comment, you might not have even put it on your info page so I'm sorry to assume.
Here are some pretty entries I found:
Mixed reds by Sylke
Inner peace by Sylke
Boho Chic by Pennington
Too bad i didn't think to look on the blog entry. I found so many pretty ones AFTER the fact and I didn't even get to vote for the winners because i didn't see them. They each would have gotten one more vote if i had seen them.

I gave up voting eons ago - too many entries to sort through and not enough time.
I also took down my entries as it seemed pointless to keep them up.
I'm glad some of you have the patience to plug away and win!
This FLOR website is pretty spectacular and personally I loved my own
two Native American designs. If I ever get the funds, I'd like to do a few rooms
in my own home :) - Again, congrats MEI & PENNINGTON!

Edit:
I had a though time sorting through all the entries too, and had to give up because it was getting insane. Even for Paw. So I ended up only looking through the first and last few entries of the whole contest. I bet I missed a ton of other beautiful designs.
I had never seen Mei and Penn's rugs yet. But I both of them are gorgeous. And I definitely would have voted for them if I had.

Also - totally agree with this!

And why couldn't we see who had loved our designs like in previous competitions? That would be a good way to see more in the recent comments, and dare I say it - promote our own. :)

Regarding the frustrations voiced by Sundancer, Southpaw and others, I totally agree. Without the ability to sort or filter entries, unfortunately it really does become more of a popularity vote than a true creative/design contest. With 4,300+ entries, 15 thumbnails per page, and the only way to browse is to start at Page 1 or Page 288, then the entries submitted first have a huge advantage (exposure) over those in the middle of the pack.
I'm sure this was unintentional, but hopefully future contests will be set up differently.

Each user had the option to promote their work. I posted my entries on my profile and on Pinterest. There was no spamming involved. I didn't ask any of my followers (or anyone else for that matter) to vote for me. I only "showed off" my work. Does having a large number of followers and people who visit my page somehow disqualify me from promoting my work?
Thanks to all you wonderful peeps for congratulating Manda and me. <3 Love all of you. ^_^

Awwww Mei you should never feel guilty or sad about having the most loved carpet design. You're right, you had no control over other people clicking love or not. Never apologize for being the best and don't let us ruin the feeling of victory. I'm sorry if it felt like I was complaining. Listen, this is what I sound like... "Blah blah blah first world problems woe is me I didn't promote or see the other cool designs I could have voted on." See? I sound silly. Don't mind me... I don't think I'm a sore loser, I'm happy for you! I made a carpet design and then lost it somewhere in the thousands because I didn't copy the badge code. I don't think I had a chance at winning anyway because it wasn't even that great of a design. Hehe. Once again, a sincere congrats to you, and DON'T feel bad for being awesome. *hugs*

It was on page 256 (I knew I was somewhere in the very beginning) and see?? I TOLD YOU I was nowhere even near winner quality. In fact, I was the only one I "loved" the design. So what am I even complaining about? LOL
I made a couple others but I'm not even going to TRY to find them. Haha.

I agree with sundancer actually. There should be a better navigation through the entries. I found it hard to browse through the entries because it was disorganized. If anyone thought it was not quite fair (actually no one has said that, but i thought of some ideas)
1) only start voting after entries have been confirmed and 'open to all to vote'
2) organization - as per sundancer's idea
3) make the names of the creator anonymous until after contest. (That way nobody can vote based on person popularity, but palette visuals)
4) disallow embedding <-- to make it anonymous/ posting on the forums.
5) voting only allowed for other people's entries.
That way, nobody can and should say anything about the results and it will be fair. right? :)
sundancer
I like your ideas Faeleia. The best idea you had was to disallow voting until all the entries are in. The people who made palettes in the beginning had an advantage to begin collecting votes over the people who submitted last minute.
I do like being able to post our badge on our wall (even though I didn't take advantage of this) so as to get more views and hopefully more loves. It would definitely make it harder to get votes if we couldn't do that. The name of the creator doesn't actually influence me at all so that's irrelevant (at least to me.) I vote on an entry 100% for it's aesthetic value.

I voted randomly - just picked out random pages and voted on the ones I liked on those pages. And I bet lots of people did the same - lots of random voting. There were many I liked as floor designs... and others I would have liked as wall hangings!

Having said that, Mei and Pennington, please remember that you guys won and that's really awesome. Please don't make your self or your entry small because of what we are saying here. At the end of the day you guys rocked! So heartiest congratulations!! Enjoy the victory. <3 <3 :) Best, Juhee

*hugs to Sundancer* You've always been supportive, Sunny. And you're being honest. Everyone does deserve a fair shot. Fae made some great points on how to make the contest system better.

As for the flaws of the sorting, screening and voting system, I do think that things could have been arranged in a better way, but I'm positive about the fact that, should some other contests occur, there will be room for changes based on the feedbacks brought by Fae, Sun etc.
