Shiver Me Timbers

Peg Leg Jones is the captain of the pirate ship "Mangy Dog". As his ship sails on the high seas it is fat with pirate's plunder of wine and gold.

One fine day they sailed the Mangy Dog into a motley port town known as "Cold Shivers" where Captain Jones took his crew straightway to the "Pieces of Eight" tavern.

In the dim light of candles, pirates and scurvy dogs from about the Caribbean played cards and drank rum.

"Pinch the Wench" and "Yo Ho Ho" were games they played with the barmaids.

The ruffian souls got carried away and smashed their mugs together. Yes, their mugs and sometimes their heads too!

The Pieces of Eight tavern was owned by Wendy Goodwench. Peg Leg was her lover, and on every visit he left a piece of gold under her pillow.

Wendy hid her coins in a box. A box hid beneath a plank in the floor. The sea ran under the tavern. The box went into the sea.

Wendy kept her gold in Cold Shivers.

Early the next morning Peg Leg Jones and his crew slipped out of the harbor and back to the salty seas.

The crew was ready for sunshine and adventure. It's the pirate way. As they sailed along, they sang songs like "Fifteen Men On A Dead Man's Chest".

Peg Leg charted his course for Saber Island. It was a three day ride. Once there, they saw the red tide had come. The Red Tide was considered a bad omen. They decided to wait until it passed.

Wendy had many friends and informants throughout the Caribbean. She bought and sold information if the price was right. Wendy had more connections than a teenager with a cell phone.

Three hours after Peg Leg left, she heard a bad rumor from the cabin boy of the Dark Heart. She paid him two coins to learn that soldiers had laid a trap for Peg Leg at Saber Island.

Wendy dispatched a carrier pidgeon to her sister, a piratess known as "Blood Rose". The red lady soon went into action.

When Blood Red received her sister's message she knew exactly what to do.

Fortunately, Saber Island was exactly where she lived. Being that soldiers are never as smart as pirates, this intelligence was not known to them.

That night Blood Red bundled up her beautiful chestnut hair into a three cornered hat. She took her jeweled scabbard from the drawer and clipped it neatly onto her black leather belt. She slipped her small pistol into her blouse and stole quietly into the night.

Blood Rose came to the soldiers encampment. She signaled to her friends who had silently stolen into the surrounding trees.

Fifteen renegade pirates lived on the island with Rose. For five years they had protected it every since their boat the Golden Swan sank in it's beautiful blue harbor.

Rather than beat the soldiers with guns and swords, Rose prefered to use her wits. Far better to scare away the king's men than fight them on home ground.

Soldiers and pirates are nortoriously superstitous. Rose understood this and used it against to her advantage.

At precisely the right moment she signaled the pirates. They made eerie, ghostly sounds.

It didn't take long after that for the soldiers to cast off the shores in their royal vessel.

Three days later when Peg Leg came to shore, Rose was waiting for him. They drank rum and laughed. They buried the stolen gold and wine.

Soon, Peg Leg Jones returned to Cold Shivers Harbor and Wendy, his lady love.

The day of pirates was coming to an end. Eventually, Peg Leg, Wendy and Rose woujld find their way back to England and retired in a seaside town where they slowly spent their stolen gold and enjoyed life on a grand scale.
