To be added: account settings.

How can I register?

You can click on the 'Register Here' link that is located at the top of the site in the login area or go directly to http://www.colourlovers.com/register. To register, you will need a username, a password and an e-mail address.

What are the benefits of registering?

Registering will give you the ability to save your colors and palettes, to vote and add to your favorites other lovers' palettes and colors, to leave comments, to participate in forum discussions, to create and join groups, and to have your own lover page (http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername) where other lovers will be able to see your profile information, your palettes and colors, and to leave you comments.

Is registering free?

Yes, it is. However, you can support the site by upgrading to a sponsor account, which will grant you additional features (see here for details). To get this type of account, register first then go to your profile page - http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername - and click on the 'Sponsors' tab.
Sponsor accounts cost $20 a year. Payments are done via Paypal.

Can I change my username?

No, you can't. However, you can create a new account with a new username, post your palettes and colors under this new username then close your old account.

How do I change my password?

Go to your own page - http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername - then click on the 'Account' tab. Then click on 'Click here to change your password'. Type your new password twice then click on 'Update Password'. You must be logged in to be able to do this.

I've forgotten my password. What can I do?

You can click on the 'Lost Password?' link that is located at the top of the site in the login area or you can go directly to http://www.colourlovers.com/lostPasswd. Enter your username and e-mail address and click on 'Reset Password'. A temporary password will be e-mailed to you. Once you've logged in using this temporary password, you'll be prompted to set a new one.

How do I change my e-mail address?

Go to your own page - http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername - then click on the 'Account' tab. Enter your new e-mail address in the appropriate field then click on 'Update Your Love'. You must be logged in to be able to do this.

How do I delete my account?

Go to your own page - http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername - then click on the 'Account' tab. Scroll down until you see a button called 'Close Your Account'. Click on it. You must be logged in to be able to do this.

Great stuff!

The only thing I was unsure about what the last one, about "My Speak". Maybe it should be something like:

My Speak keeps track of comments on palettes, colors and profiles.. You can look at any comments you made in the past in the My Speak section of your own profile page. On another lover's profile page, My Speak is where you can see the all the comments they made. From either your own, or another lover's profile page, http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/yourusername - then click on the 'My Speak' tab.

Actually, looking at that, there might need to be a question like

What is a profile page? What is it for? How can I find it?

Not sure - maybe that's obvious.

About My Speak: I've merged both descriptions. What do you think? Too much info?

About Profiles: I was too lazy to write it. Seriously, I didn't how how to broach that topic. Maybe: What are profile pages? How can I edit mine?

No that looks cool to me. Its a bit of a confusing topic so best describe it carefully.

I'm off to work now - lets see when I can get down to doing something about the profile pages. I dont think one needs to spend too much time on "what are profile pages" but it might be cool to describe how you can modify them.

How about we provide some basic html info so people can customise their profile page.

Eg,
How to change text
Customise Customise Customise Customise

How to make and load a custom header or logo (clickable)
retroguy

How to tweak the lovers bio.
phreestyle profile page

What do we do? Consult first? Write the topic and submit it here? Send a pm?

Very nice idea, if I may say so. I'd say write the FAQ and post it here as a new conversation.

On other sites, you mean? I guess they're copyrighted. The old one was created by http://colourmod.com/ I believe. You might want to contact the CL team to inquire about this.
