For convenience, we only mention palette . But everything in this post applies equally to patterns and colors -you can favorite them too.
On each palette, pattern and colors page there is an "+Favorite" button, above the comment area. Click this button to save it in your Favorites list.
To see your own Favorite list, go to your profile page and click on the "Favorites" tab at the top of the page. You'll see the latest 5 palettes/colors/patterns you've added as favorites. When clicking on 'View all', they will be listed alphabetically by name, starting from the letter Z. You can see other ColourLover's favorites in the same way, from their profile page.
Is it possible to search for more examples of a certain pattern?
Below the pattern badge on the pattern's page you will find a button "Browse Similar Pattern Styles". This will open a page with many variations of the pattern you are searching for.

I think this is also the best place for talking about RSS feeds: http://www.colourlovers.com/rss
Can I browse old top colors, patterns and palettes? What are the Archives sections?
The Archives sections will allow you to see which colors, palettes and patterns were in the top ten for a given month and a given year. Go to the main navigation menu and select Colors, Palettes or Patterns then Archives.
Can I search from my desktop? What is the Desktop Color Finder?
Desktop Color Finder is an Adobe Air application that will allow you to search for colors, palettes and patterns directly from your desktop. You can search by keyword and sort the results by date, score, name, votes and views. See this post for screenshots.
To be able to use it, first download and install the latest version of Adobe Air then download and install Desktop Color Finder.
Adobe Air works on Windows and Mac OS X.
These come from tvr I'm not sure if this is the right place? Maybe it should be in the "keeping track of your palettes/patterns/colours page?
What can I get notified of?
You can get notified of several things.
- Comments on your colors, palettes and/or patterns: by default. You'll receive a love note from CLSystem, which is linked to the comment.
- Other's new colors/palettes/patterns and its comments: by subscribing to the Color Lover profile (you have to click at "+Subscribe" at the CL bio profile page, just right side of the big photo". You will receive love notes for each notification.
- Other's received comments: if you're interested in receiving notifications on other specific color/palette or pattern work, you have to choose that specific work and click "+Subscribe", located at the right of the color/palette or pattern big image.
-Once you receive a new love note, a red message will come up at the top righ page (you have to be logged on). You can click over the red text and be linked directly to your inbox.

This is really an awesome option as you can even combine it with your favorites. For example, I can find all the horizontal stripes I've faved by entering the following URL address:

Edit: Never mind, I got it. :)

Thanks for pointing this out. These notes are slightly out of date - the button is now called the "+Favorite" button and you should see it just above the comments in a palette or patterns page.

I couldn't figure out how to create a favorite list. There's not such "+Favorite" button, but I assume it is the "Love This+" button instead.
Then on my profile there's not such "Favorite List" the closest I see is the "ACTIVITY FEED" list displaying the latest 5 palettes/colors/patterns I've checked as loved ones I guess, but I can't find the "View All" button either.

Agreed. This is a ridiculous update to the site. Part of the usefulness of CL for me has been the ability to create a "lightbox" of sorts (think stock photo sites) containing favorites that I can easily manage and pull on when needed. Losing intuitive access to this function is a big step backward.
I assume that this choice was made to encourage people to browse the site and make it more social-network oriented, rather than just a focus on content, but in the end, this detracts from the site's value to the user. Users should have a dashboard page or something containing all of their follows/favorites, tags, preferences, stats, etc. Why allow users to follow/favorite other users, but make it difficult to locate favorite colors/palettes? This site is about color first, and community second, right?
PS... it would be helpful if the FAQs were updated to align with the current version of the site as well.

It is ridiculous. Honestly, there needs to be a way that I can have all my "loves", "favorites", whatever on a page for me to see.

About the above following trick, does that solve the problem of lost favorites? Even if it does, there is no follow box to tick, and going to the profile only brings up the editing version users see when visiting their own profile. Unless I'm supposed to log back out, then perform following actions outside my account. -_-
