Definition & abbreviations
Alphabetically:
A fusion of template and palette. Distinct from template.
This is the screen you see when you go to colour a pattern, and the first screen you see after a successful save in theTCW. This is where a template creator should ideally always add the tag 'template' to ONE of their coloured versions, so that it will come up associated with their name, if someone does a search for templates. Ycc2106 has a great tutorial on tags here.
The online template creator.
The offline template creator, still in Beta.
These are what we actually create in Seamless, and they (and their tags!) are visible and searchable only in the Pattern creator.
This is the first screen you see when you have saved a template in S1, or uploaded one with S2. The tags you enter on this first screen (where you cannot re-arrange or change the colours) are only usable inside the PCW search field. As such, tags here should only be simple descriptors, or a short version of your username. There is no point to adding the tag 'template' here.
AI = Adobe Illustrator
pattern colorizer = This, confusing because the button says "create a pattern"

Importing shapes
(initially written by Prax - maybe slightly outated)Using Vector Editors
Create each shape separately in a file, then:
Save as > SVG (scalable vector graphics)
Useful Tips:
Where are the file patterns?
In Mac all the patterns you made are saves in ../Documents/SeamlessPro/
I advise to save them yourself so you can rename them and make them easier to find for editing
If they don't have names, I think you'll have more chance finding the file you want searching files by date
Anyone know where they are in Windows?
Maybe in the invisible files?
../Documents and settings/Programmes/ seamless pro/
or something like that?

ONLINE EDITORS
SVG-edit - to save, click the SGV button and copy the text to a text editor (eg. TextEdit, Notepad) and save in UTF8 with sgv as extension
Avary
This enable collaborative work! =)
>> Try it
Export to SVG is good, the code is OK for SP
it even makes copy paste embed codes for websites like this: =)
ImageMagick Studio Retouch and convert
CONVERTORS (have not tried)
Online SVG image converter
Convert JPEG to SVG files

Note that a template set to "All rights reserved", will not show up in the pattern colorizor - nobody can colour it
No matter what the license provided, it's always nice to credit the original creator in the description.

[...] There is a great function in AI called 'scribble,' which lets you, well, scribble, all over your shapes. It is crazy awesome for breaking up big flat colours without making them too finicky about the kind of colours you use to do it.
I also used it here:
It may also have been used here in this awesome design by FrommeDesigner, though I have no way of knowing for sure. :)
