Plaid Patterns

One of the interesting things that I've noticed happens with plaids is that they can develop some 3D perceptual tricks that make them feel like they exist in space instead of just a flat pattern. This effect is most pronounced if you click on the pattern to blow it up to your full screen. Here are a few where I tried to play with this. Any of you interested in this kind of plaid?

I see what you mean. Contrasting colors seem to make that effect, with the dark colors receding and the light/bright one's 'pop'.

I'm interested in any kind of plaid! :) These are very cool. I love Blurt in particular.

I think it has a lot to do with complementary, colors, actually...:) Very fun.

This plaid works beautifully in 3D, and it's a great pattern by itself. The Bright colors definite come at you and the darker ones recede. And the contrast of light and dark is definitely enhanced by the complementary colors.

These are very cool.

Here is one I made that is kinda trippy. The warm colors come forward and the cools fall back.

Great colors, and it really has that 3D layering--Nice!
